The Longstreet Society celebrated the completed renovation of the Historic Piedmont Hotel in downtown Gainesville, Ga. Members and guests toured popular Longstreet sites in and around Gainesville, toured and ate lunch at the Piedmont, and traveled to the Atlanta History Center for a private showing of Longstreet's effects currently on loan there. Nicky Payne and Joe Whitaker received the coveted Helen Dortch Longstreet Award for outstanding service on behalf of Gen. Longstreet, and a silent auction fundraiser top events on Saturday.
